Gerard Ukpan is a theatre director and performance poet from Nigeria. Born in 1976, Gerard first appeared on stage at the age of 4 and started writing poetry at 15. His first influences were music-backed storytelling and oral history at home. His knowledge was enriched by his father’s library – he says he “studied at his Father’s College”.
